Architect's Office Featuring FSC Reclaimed Teak. East Teak's FSC-certified 100% recycled teak highlights the new Rees Associates' Atlanta office. Chairman Frank Rees personally specified the sand-and-finish 3/8" x 5" tongue & groove solid wood flooring in several public areas in their office, including the library, kitchen area and several conference rooms.  Installed by Ryan Avery with Spectra Contract Flooring, the hardwood was finished in “Bona Traffic” DPS Satin Sealer. This project is currently pursuing the US Green Building Council's LEED certification status. Gallery

Labron Home (LEED for Homes Platinum Certification). This reconstructed home in the heart of Dallas features FSC 100% pure Ipe decking supplied by East Teak Fine Hardwoods, Inc. in several places throughout the exterior. Architects Kelly Mitchell (mitchell | garman collaborative) & Garry Walling chose FSC 100% Pure Ipe for its durability and for its third-party Forest Stewardship Council certification denoting it as both legal and sustainable. Built by Ross Boorhem of ArTex Development, LP (ross.artex@gmail.com), Ipe (5/4 x 6) was used on the deck facing by the plunge pool, and also on the second story terrace (4/4 x 6) continuing onto the breezeway (5/4 x 6) that leads to the studio. The facing was set with screws and plugs, and finished with Cabot’s deck stain to complete the look. The home is on target for LEED for Homes Platinum Certification, where FSC certified woods can contribute points under the Materials and Resources category. Gallery
